I have used different size compound gears for the 4th gear mod with good results,the only thing that changes is your final drive ratio.
46x10 10t pinion=199 to 1
46x10 8t pinion=248to1
42x14 10t pinion=130 to1
42x14 8t pinion=162 to 1
56x10 10t pinion=242 to 1
56x10 8t pinion=302 to 1

And TEXX-GEAR......
4th gear = 34x10 .. + 8 tooth pinion .
Ratio= 184 to 1 for YELLOW-CRAWLER .
