Either would be fine. I've used both TX's, and currently use the 8FG. I wouldn't use the receiver as the decision maker. I've used both receievers with my 8FG transmitter and really can't tell the difference in the faster response of the 6008HS that comes with the 8FG. Decide which transmitter fits your needs and wants better and use that as your decision maker. You can then buy whichever additional receivers you want. The 617FS is really hard to beat for racing.
