Yes, install it loose. Thread it in a minimum of 3/8", but do not bottom it out. You can use this as an adjustment if needed for spinner/prop fit.

If you tighten it, the threaded stud can get askew slightly you will not see it, but the prop might mis-align. You want the prop stud to float in the threads a bit, and the prop will square up properly on the drive washer.
