Default RE: Engine trouble

ORIGINAL: bkbajan

How hard is it to get a new engine from redcat?

two weeks ago,i started seeing metal shavings coming from the glow plug hole.
this made the car shut off randomly and the pull start was stopped working.
today..i pulled the engine out, took the backplate out and noticed more shavings.

cleaned everything up,sealed the backplate and went outside to start it.
the truck started fine but while i was tuning it..the engine died again and the pull start became very hard to pull.

should i expect any issues getting a replacement engine from redcat?

btw..its a caldera 3.0
I guess when you say replacement you mean for free as in warranty? Unless it's some kind of factory defect more than likely it will fall under "the hobby" clause, where "due to the nature of the hobby" starts getting thrown around. The good thing is these small block engines are on the lower end of the price scale when it comes to cost. I'm not sure what Redcat charges on it's exchange program, but since you already have the engine you can usually find a new engine minus the carb on ebay for about $65 with shipping.
