I don't have any experience with that engine. High Plains or Daven would know. If you ask in the pylon forum, there will be some old timers who know.
Internal linkages are just a tiny part of all the things that add up together to go fast. The faster you go, the more critical things like that get.
At 100 mph an exposed control linkage might eat up .0001 HP but at 200 mph it might eat up 100 times more...?
