The radial makes the difference between a show stopper and all of the other Warbirds on the line,. I have a Saito 450R in my Corsair, and now that it is well broke in, it is a stump puller. On take off, I get it rolling good with tail wheel down, when the speed is just right, I kick it in the pants and the prop blast instantly lifts the tail. Applying right rudder to counteract the torque, the Corsair quickly attains airspeed, but wait, got to speed by the spectators with wheels floating along the top of the grass and gently, oh gently pull back on the stick. She lifts off timidly, but that is a rouse. The advance on the elevator rotates the Corsair into a 45 degree climb without deceleration. She quickly attains alltitude, right bank and level off. The roar of that radial as it unwinds is worth every red cent I spent to install it. And no lead up front, not one ounce!
