yes an 8 cell will definitely give you more speed. I used to run that with a 15 tooth pinion on my son's Caldera 10e. You will be surprised at the difference it will give you. I was the same way at first, didn't want to get into lipo, was a lot of info at first. The nihm 8 cell costs a lot more compared to a lipo that will have more power and run longer. I understand though not wanting to invest in another charger if you don't already have a charger that will charge and balance lipo, unfortunately it's part of the game.
