Welcome crosshair. You will do fine with that brushless system. Almost any will work well in the storm, however, since 2wd stadium trucks in general don't suck a lot of current.
You may not need to increase the width of the truck to make it more stable. How much camber are you running? Increasing camber will reduce the chance of traction rolling. Despite my highly modded storm, there isn't much needed for this truck except maybe applying loctite to the steering servo.
The CF chassis came from xtreme RC. I am almost done installing a 2400kv 8th scale buggy motor in mine. I have been thinking of doing it for a while and got the push tonight when I needed the motor in my storm for something else. It is going to take stiffer springs and a lot of chassis tweaking to handle the extra weight. It will be run mostly on 3s but it can fit up to a 5s. 77/33 gearing.
