The Civic has nearly the same engine as the S2000? Is that a European thing? Over here they get the K series I believe with 190ish HP and 130 ish TQ, pretty different than what we got for the S2k
Horsepower figures are not representative, when I say it has the same engine, I mean physically. The F20s and K20s differ only in small ways, they are almost the same. The K20 (Civic) makes much more torque low down than the F20 (S2000), at the sacrifice of top end power (200hp vs 240hp in the S2000) and 1000 usable RPM (8200 cutoff in the civic, 9200 in the AP1) - longer stroke, basically a slightly different bottom end.
To finish up though, yes, all Honda models are significantly different in Europe/Japan than they are in the US. Honda learned long ago that the US folks don't like peaky revvers and since the S2000 AP2, they have been putting torquier, lower revving versions of the engines in all the cars for the US market, not just the s2k.
The Euro EP3 Type R has exactly 200hp.
