I was working at a power plant outside of Ningbo in the early 90's.
The crews working for me there were working on the floors, squatting on their haunches.
So, being helpful (I thought!), I had the carpenters build a couple of work benches and put all the part on the benches.
After lunch, all the workers were ON the table, squatting on their haunches working on the parts.
Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone!<o
