I am liking the little foam planes because they seem pretty survivable. Not 100% bullet proof; but the same kind of landing on a .40-46 balsa ARF vs little foames will send you home vs keep flying.
I have a Parkzone micro T28 and a P40. REALLY like those!!! I can fly them in a bit of wind; not fun but it's do-able. They are Z-foam and can some beating. I've repaired the T-28 some, it looks rough but it keeps going.

I mention these because they come with a field portable charger, uses AA batteries. You can also buy replacement batteries for these cheap (as are most in this size). I have 6, and two portable chargers
Fly; replace with battery 2 and start charging battery 1;
Fly; replace with battery 3 and start charging battery 2;
Fly/replace with battery 4, 5, 6
By this time, battery 1 is charged; start charging battery 3 (its cooled down a bit)
And battery 2 is charged...

You get the idea!! You have more possible flight time than ability to pay attention at this rate.
