Steve, if you are looking for the cowling do it by diameter you can always cut the length. I think when I get around to getting to building a Howard I'll probably go with a short kit and use Wendell Hostler's plans. His Howard comes in a smidgen over a 98" wingspan, larger than I normally build but still reasonable. He has some good designs and I have an idea what to expect.
