Hi, yes, I saw your post in the P-47 thread...I'm trying to gauge whether issues like that are an anomaly of something that is a recurring problem. Two things I gather are critical: backlash and grease. Was yours installed on motor when purchased?

Yes, starter was installed on engine when bought. Gears come unlubed and the instruction sheet didn't mention the importance of greasing. Also no way to adjust backlash. After stripping the first gear, Mile High replaced it and told me what grease to use. The second gear also soon stripped. I removed the starter and ran the EME 55 without. Nice engine.
