I guess I'll have to see this auto start feature before I put too much stock into what it can do. I mean it would be good for a powered glider - launch, gain altitude, fly an aerobatic routine, climb up again, fly around, shut down, then later re start, etc. But for an unexpected flameout on a high wing loading fighter, the compressor in any micro turbine has so little inertia it's going to wind down well below idle speed awful fast before a sustainable re start can be had - I think the starter is going to have to assist nearly all re-starts and that means at least 30 seconds I'd think before thrust can be advanced again, the dirt comes up faster than that below 400 feet. I like the idea a lot and I hope the practicality in a fighter type engine failure scenario is better than I can visualize right now (it would be awesome if they could have a re light and run within a few seconds)
