If you're into multi-engine, the DX20 supports up to 4 engines with the ability to mix for differential.

Yes, a JR 12-channel will work with a DX20. ANY Spektrum or JR DSM aircraft receiver will work, actually (unless you're in Europe, then only DSMX ones). FWIW, Spektrum makes 12-channel PowerSafe receivers too.
Personally, my favorite receiver is the AR9020. It does 10 channels plus has the port for the X-Plus module.
