I have been using monocoat on the bottom of my BJ canopies and have used both Seacraft and the carbon fiber rod. My Inspire has the same latch mechanism as the Element and I have had no issues (over 400 flights). But I added the extra holes for exhaust, even with my Nuance, so no problems,

I have my Element set up with the BJ latch and packing tape on the canopy. I planning on maidening it this weekend

You can do this as well and it help with with forced air and keeping the air out of the canopy (see photo, clear covering). I've been doing this for many years now. Definitely take AC's advice on adding the additional canopy latches.
