There is another good reason to mix rudder with aileron on a trainer with a steerable nose leg. It makes it much easier for the beginner to manage the transition from ground steering with the rudder to airborne steering with ailerons. Yes I totally agree that all beginners should work at educating the left thumb but lets make it easier to get off the ground.
