That makes sense. Sometimes you have to work with what you have. Besides, it likely won't be that obvious - as you pointed out with the type of exhaust manifold on the D.IIIa. By the way, I found this build thread on the Aerodrome for a full scale Pfalz D.III. The fellow has not yet built anything, but he is working on CAD drawings for his plane. Nothing on the fuse yet, but alot on the wings.
