Default EC-52 vintage style motor glider

The EC-52 was designed and built from June 2006 to April 2008 by my uncle Jose Maria "Pepe" Cardin as a tribute to the free flight AMA Grand Class A and Open FAI motor gliders from 1947 to 1955.

Design was made with AutoCad program and then a CNC mill machine was purchased to cut all parts from the drawings and proceed with the building at his home in Madrid (Spain).

Model specs are as follows:

Wingspan: 3.015 mm (119 in)
Wing surface: 87 dm2 (1.349 square inches)
Wing loading: 35 grs/dm2 (19 oz/square in)
Wing Profil: Wortmann 60-126
Horizontal stabilizer profil: NACA 0009
Motor: AXI 2826/8
Propeller: AERONAUT 13 x 6"
ESC: 60A
Battery: Li-Po 3S 11,1V 3.200mAh 30S
Radio: FUTABA T7C 2.4GHz FASST with R607FS receiver
Servos: FUTABA S3003 for elevator, S3003 for rudder and 2 x S3102 for ailerons

Unfortunately during a vintage model meeting in 2015 the nose collapsed diving to the ground due to a brisk maneuver, leaving the plane stalled and falling in a dethermalized state, breaking the main landing gear area. The model was stored damaged till last May when I personally took the work of repairing and reinforcing the broken area.

Finally, yesterday with an appropriate weather forecast the model got to the air again for a successful remaiden, making two 10 minutes flights using just 40% of the battery capacity.

Hope many flights to follow now with greatest security and confidence.

Best Regards from Spain.
