You are going to get a hundred different opinions, so here is mine. I have used the redundant battery set up you mention many times, over many years without any issues. 2 batteries, 2 switches, plugged into different receiver ports. But I don't and never will power my ignition from any battery connected to my receiver. I always use a separate ignition battery. Yes, that makes 3 batteries to charge, big deal. But a warning. You cannot charge the 2 receiver batteries at the same time. You will have to charge them 1 at a time. Go for it guys!!
