The AS3000 is on all the time, it's just an accessory of the new Telemetry receivers. The use of a 3 position switch is recommended to toggle between your selected gains, 0 being off or no AS3X assistance, + travel works as gain and - travel works as heading hold. almost of all the Jets I have and have helped setup have 30-35% gain.
The default channel assignment is Aux 3 in the gyro setup menu, you would simply adjust the travel limits on Aux3 to adjust your gains.
