Dave pessimistic is one of those big words like wheelbarrow,marmalade and rhubarb,i agree with what you are saying re flying power for saito fourstrokes in the air you can see the difference in initial acceleration of the plane.Similar size two stroke power delivery in the air seems quite soft by comparison tho they go like a bat out of hell when you get em wound up.
