Why not just use a cable? It's all I ever use for the 4 strokes and I have a few that the throttle arm almost touches the firewall. The trick I found is to slot the outside part of the firewall, and leave the inside part the diameter of the sheath, this allows the cable to move with the arc of the throttle arm and not bind. It also makes it easy to route around the fuel tank and battery pack.
