I've had quite a few people who bought those easy to fly planes like UMX and they practiced on a simulator for many, many hours, yet when they finally came to me for help, they proved that all that practice on a sim was worst than those who had no previous RC flying experience. Those who tried to teach themselves with UMX and other easy to fly planes quickly learned it didn't help with disorientation. Many crashed right away.
