Default Servo Testing

Is there any such thing as a servo tester??? What I am looking for is something that might help eliminate disposal of good servos or lead to repairs. If a gear is stripped we all know what that feels like....spin, spin, slip, spin, but do we know what a bad bushing or bearing feels like? How much play is there from side to side? Yes most people will say NONE, what is acceptable? .002-.010 what? What about torque on the servo? Is there really anyway to gage it after it has been produced? Give me some feed back, I have heard of a servo cycler is that the same thing? If it is where can I find one?
