Kevin,

Don’t worry, the only problem is the poor manual that comes with the 642/652/662. It doesn’t explain what happens when you activate flaperon, and it leaves you hanging.

In choosing the flaperon wing, the radio sends signals from both the aileron stick and the flap switch. By default both are set to 100% travel. So though your aileron stick is at neutral, your flap switch is at one of its ends so it is sending a full travel signal to the servo. What you think is your servos at centre is actually at full travel, you have full up spoiler or full down flap without realising it! Then when you wiggle the aileron stick, one servo moves back towards centre which is fine, but the other is already almost at the end of its travel when the aileron stick is at neutral, it moves to its physical end stop and stops there long before the other servo reaches the end of its travel. That makes it look like you are getting more travel one way than the other.

The trick is to go into the travel menu, choose flap, see it is set at 100%, turn that down to 0%, then move the flap switch, see travel in that direction is also at 100% turn that down to 0%. While you are dialing down that amount your aileron servos will be rotating back to their true neutral, which is a long way off where you had them. Just unscrew the servo arm and move it around the splines back to the proper neutral.

As you find, you can not use travel adjust on aileron because that just affects one servo, not both. Stupid, eh?! And do the instructions help you? No. The aileron dual rate switch has a value for each direction of the switch, normally you would leave it at 100% in one direction. What you can do is use that 100% and adjust that as the aileron travel adjust.
