I'd imagine it's so expensive because it's so large and completely custom. I'm sure they don't have any of them just laying around. They probably build them (by hand) per order. If they were to mass produce them, then the price would drop. But the demand isn't high enough to justify the tool and die costs. That thing is for the filthy rich who "just have to have" the biggest and most expensive toys.
