Default RE: TOWER HOBBY 40 MARKII

makods

I have converted an Avistar another high wing trainer to electric. I have done both Brushed and Brushless. See my Avistar thread started by my son 3dandp flyer for a brushed conversion.

Going with a BRUSHED system cost me ALMOST as much as my original brushless system. The reason is the Speed Control needed costs as much as a Brushless controller. Plus there is a BEC problem with the GRIFFEN 55 that is solved w/using a seperate Rx battery pack. With my brushless system I didn't need this Seperate Rx pack.

A Brushed system flies w/8 cells and a Brushless system needs 10-12.

The Brushless system will cost more, but the motor lasts a long time. I have went through 3 brushed motors in my Avistar in 3 months. The first 2 motors could not handle the Amps. The 3rd motor works good. After 2 years of use in four planes my original Jeti brushless motor that started in My Avistar is still going.

good luck!!

Either way it is fun!!!!
