Hi Michael,
I Have done no mods to my 4in1 unit and it seems to be OK with the LiPo. I did run it with the cover off to see how hot it actually got and it was barely warm after sitting in the hover for 20 minutes. I do know some people have cut holes in the side of the 4in1 box to aid cooling but I found I did not need to do this. It might be worth running yours with the cover off to see how hot it gets (piece of mind) and make your decision from there.
