I thought about doing that.
No sweet about the cord, i have a niffty plan that works...
get a pair of pliers and grip them on the cord, then get a cable tie and attach it on the handle of the pliers and pull tight. works great!

Don't sweat it. Cut the cord just below the handle and push through from the other side. Oh and don't let the cord spring back into the fan housing befor you tie the old one back on
