Should be pretty easy and inexpensive, even with brushless motors and LiPolys.

This is a Douglass DC-3 "Gooney Bird," not something named "Gooney Bird" right?

Could you post the recommended weight, and the prop clearance from the crankshaft to the side of the fuselage?
