RE: Midwest Extra 300xs Build
Had another hour or so this evening to work on the wing some more. I started by sticking a pin through the previously tapped aileron control horn block and through the top side sheeting. This was done to mark the location for the 3/16 countersink hole for the 6-32 hardened screw. After drilling the countersink, I screwed in the 6-32 to almost flush and coated the underside of the head with epoxy. Finished threading the screw in good and snug and coated the head with epoxy. Will probably have to use filler on top of this a little when it is dry and before covering. I then cut the 1/2 hinge blocks for the wing to fit between the top and bottom trailing edge spars at the location of the hinges. The plans called for 1/4 but they were too small and would have been difficult to center. I also filled the entire opening so that if I have to replace a hinge later on I know I will have plenty of options for placement.
