RE: What safety precautions to keep in mind?
Turn the airplane OFF before programming a computer transmitter. I know of an incident where a pilot inadvertently reversed the throttle while programming and sent a large model at high speed toward a group of people.
Which brings up a related safety rule: Any time the plane is ON, it should be pointed away from people.
