RE: what plane to build to go with a ips(the little one)
It's tough to build a 3D plane light enough to be able to use the IPS drive.
For the past couple of years I have flown a 3 Ch rud elev thro plane with the DXF drive with a 14 X 10 GWS prop with 8 110 mah nicads for power.
Plane is carbon rod and tube construction with food wrap for covering.
About all you could do with it is torque roll, loops, spins, etc..
I built a version with ailerons so I could do some real 3d flying, but with the added weight of the aileron servo and airframe structure, the IPS wasn't enough. I swapped to one of the IPS twin drives turning a 14 or 15 X 10 prop, and still don't have the performance I would like.

This isn't true 3D but it is small, light and aerobatic - and the kit is beautifully laser cut, yet is only ~$30 at www.toddsmodels.com.
See this post, for a construction article on the one I built.

T3D CAP uses IPS-A motor.

Use 340mAh Lipoly for this plane. 740mAh will hover marginally for first 5 min. This is probably the lowest wing loading 3D plane kit out there. I fly this model frequently in my front yard. Also excellent for indoor 3D. It is a nice looking 3D plane, compared to most other so called 3D planes with short square wings or pancake wings like IFO...ugly.
I plan to get PJS300 from hobby-lobby when they restock. It is a perfect replacement for IPS with the same weight but with more than twice the thrust. It should be ballistic!

I have a T3D Cap. Loads of fun. I have broken mine enough that it is getting heavy. Thrust is almost down to 1:1
I may have to try to shave a few grams by running the 340 batteries.
Oh, the breaks were clearly pilot error. [X(]
