Built a 3D from an old SlowStick
I just finished my maiden on my new 3D. I built it from the remains of a 3DX and a SlowStick.
I used the SlowStick aluminum fuselage and baterry mount. I used the 3DX wing, tail and elevator. It worked out an ounce lighter than the old 3DX. It is much more rigid, doesn't twist and the motor mount is far superior to the 3DX.
It is quite ugly, but then so is the3DX. It is all about business. It flies very well.
My Feather receiver is a POS. It caused the plane to twitch a few times. I recovered but later it lost reception and the plane went down hard. I have crashed 3DXs enough to know that a crash of that magnitide would have destroyed a Depron fuselage or at least caused the cf spar to rip out. On my new design, I broke a prop.
If anyone is interested, I will post pictures.

RE: Built a 3D from an old SlowStick
Flew out two 1500 Lipos today on this setup. It was great.
I changed to the Electron6 RX, I experienced no twitching and am much more confident.
I added a second aeleron servo.
Strangely this is about my 6th flight on a 350 motor with a 1260 prop and it has not yet burned up. My throttle control must be better.
It flies well but I think the lack of a fuselage will make knife edges impossible.
The structure using the SlowStick aluminum tube is much more sound and resiliant to crash damage.
