Hmmm..I would have to think about that. While essentially the same weight, I would worry about matching the servos in travel which would require a matchbox so that would add weight. I think it would be better to just go with a $55 Hitec per surface and be done with it.

Exactly! Once u buy all those matchboxes it cost more in the end.

I would think that you could use 3004 or the like. Just gang them up like you normally would. Cheap, light(1 oz) and pretty strong on 6v. Plus you have sull size servo gear train strength !!! Something to consider when you trying to move MASSIVE control surface's.

I got playing with motocalc and came up with 2 aveox 27/26 motor's and a 4s pack. about 200 oz of thrust !!! That should do the trick ?!?!? About 30 to 40 oz's of drive train.
Just a thought.

Let us know when you get it all together, i am thinking i would like to do something like that.

I'll be building the whole project here for the word to see....

I've aready made the offer to give away the laser cut stuff to a few serious builders that would like to experiment on this with me...

I am still for the weight and cost savings of the little guys. You don't really need the matchboxes for the ailerons. (Unless you went with digitals) I could see one box on the 3 rudder servos though.

The gear train isn't worring me. Those little guys are BB with metal gears and do 62 oz of torque... thats 124 oz on each aileron, 124 on the elevator, and 186 on the rudder!

Am I all alone on the mini servos. ???[&o]

I would rather go with a Hitech digital myself. I think my hitec 5625 digital was only $49 at my LHS. Two of the smaller servos at 21.75 ea and for a few more dollars, I am at the 5625 digital. My two Yen. Either way, it is going to be coooollll

I have the fuselage pretty much wrapped up. Parts fit is perfect everywhere and it all locks together. No glue has been used in the pictures below!

I'm all out of Depron at the moment... It'll be here on the truck at the end of the month. I doubt you'd want to fly the FFF version...

Would like to get som feed back on the market price for a complete kit of this big boy. It would have everything except the electronics. Carbon Fiber gear, CF Cowl, CF wheel pants, and all the laser cut parts for the whole plane. Full size plans too.

Do some serious thinking and let me know what everyone feels a fair price should be for all that stuff.

Seeing that a 35% plane would weigh this light it would fly ridiculous. The elevators would take forever for the plane to come down and any wind at all would psh it aroudn lieka toy. Just insane big...though i'd love to try one! For sure I'll buy one eventaully!

It'll be in the 10-15 oz/ft2 loading range. That is just slightly higher than the 3D Foamy kits. Should handle winds up to 10 mph no problem. any more, and it just gets bumpy out there. Top end looks to be around 55 mph... but 45 mph stright up still

I've been getting the wings ready to laser cut.... fun, fun, fun....

i want one! iv always wanted 35% and up, but its expencive, however........standard servos, foam.......

id say go for a hacker C50 with a hacker master acro 90 controller and some of the e-gold plus cells from duralite, (branded flightpower here were they come from) ther up to 14c and if u got a 5 amp 10s 2p pack, your getting YS 160 dingo power!

honeslty, if you can kit this, id save for one.........

keep us updated dude!

for prices Levi, give us an idea about how many sheets of depron needed to make it, then how much it costs for a sheet, then bump the price up a bit for the cowl and canopy and the cost for cutting it then you got it............

maybe a Saito 180 but that would just vibrate the airframe to pieces. So...electrics is the way to go. One day f I have enough $$$ I may buy one...

Levi,
Why CF cowl and wheelpants? That seems like it would be way more brittle than traditional fiberglass parts (although lacking in the coolness department, I know, I know...)

CF is just slightly more brittle than FGlass. But 60% lighter... Makes a big difference on the total weight.
