Best battery motor combo for Shocky
I know this questions has been asked but the threads seem to go off at tangents. Let us try to keep this to the point.
What is the best motor-battery combo for a shocky?

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
Geistware
Are referring to the stock motor supplied with the shock flyer kit, If you are then for adequate vertical performance it is NOT a good choice. I have flown a Extra330S shock flyer with the stock motor and a 2Cell 700mAh E-tec and at full throttle it would sustain a hover/torque roll for about five seconds before it started falling backward.
I am in the process of assembling one at the moment, going to use a AXI 2208/34 with 860mAh thunder power 2Cell. Anthony

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
So many different combinations out there, it is difficult to say.
Mine has the Axi 2208/34, 3cell 830 pack and APC 9x4.7 sf. Goes very well, though only have flown outdoors.
Have bought my second, plan to make as light as possible for indoor use only. Whether I will try the new Axi 2204/54 I dont know, see how I feel.

If you take a look at hobby-lobby.com (http://www.hobby-lobby.com/shockflyer-edge.htm), you can see that they recommend, the AXI 2208/34 w/ the Kokam 2 Cell 7.4V 340 mAh Li-Poly Pack 20C if you want to go light and fly for less than 6 minutes or switch to the Thunder Power Gen II 2-cell (7.4 V) 730 mAh Li-Poly Pack with JST Connector. Discharge rate is 10 to 12 C. for 12 mins of flying for not quite twice the weight.

I have read that the 2 cell with the 34 is a bit ame. If you are considering the 2 cell, stick with the 26?
Anyone tried the new 2204 54? Any specs o available on it yet?

2 cell has the advantage of a bigger prop - 10*4.7, but plane needs to be lighter (which it is a bit as 1 less cell) to really benefit.

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
I've flown my shockie on all of:
45g AXI 2208/34 (either 3S on 9x4.7 or 2S on 10x4.7)
31g PJS300SFR
17g CD-ROM motor (best is GWS HD 7x3.5 with 3S 340 or 830)
There is no doubt that it is a much nicer "feeling" plane with a 17g motor!! I've come to the conclusion that the 2208/34 is just too big an heavy. However now AXI have the 2204/54 which is very similar in spec. to a CD ROM motor so, while I have no direct experience, I think it would be the motor of choice in fact.
(except that the Feigao brushless that's designed to replace the motor in GWS IPS gearboxes looks like another good contender - more than 300g thrust for about 4.5A - and only 17g - but it would need a gearbox of course!)

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
I also ordered
1 FM7003 3 CELL 11.1V 700MAH LIPO PACK
1 P09047 9-4.7 SLOWFLYER PROP
1 P10038 10-3.8 SLOWFLYER PROP
1 PM22002 RADIAL MNT FOR AXI 22 SERIES
1 PM220834C COMBO: AXI 220834 & JETI 08-3P
I will be using 3s 700 MAH battery, is this too much battery for the plane. Which one is the best prop for this? I ordered both because they are only a couple of bucks.

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
I have several shockflyers with AXI2208/34, AXI2204/54, Hacker B200 Baby, all using different servos, rcvrs, speed controls, etc to evaluate them. I am going to try CDROM 18 turn and Nippy 0508.
My favorite setup now is:
Edge 540 Shockflyer
AXI2204/54
JETI 08 advance
HS-55 servos
Kokam 2 cell 340 (tight space indoor), Thunder Power 2 cell 860 HD(indoor/outdoor), Kokam 3cell 340 (be careful w/throttle and amps! for shocking vertical)
APC 8x3.8 or GWS 8x4.3(changes pitch at high rpm)
Carbon fiber card stock for various stiffners (hobbylobby)
Weight 5.8oz to 6.2oz with landing gear.
I have found flying weight is the key. Very light planes don't break when hard crash.

RE: Best battery motor combo for Shocky
What about use a JETI 08 , AXI 2208/34 and a Thunde Power 11.1v 1320mah? What do u think about this battery?
the Hobby lobby recomend this setup for the raptor, but I ll use in a Extra 330s Shockflyer............what do u think?
Whats the difference between 7.2 and 11.1 ? The JETI can handle with both?
Thanks in advance !!!
