RE: CD-ROM Brushless Motor.
I just picked one up from JGRC. www.jgrc.biz Direct drive spinning an 8/4.3 prop yields 14 oz. of thrust. Pheonix 10 and a 340 mAh 3 cell LiPo. This will be on a 6 oz. 3D model. Should have it up in about a week. Joe

Tons of planes and people using CD motors. I have one and my brother has one. Both on G-Nats from www.littlebirdz.com

No luck with mine. Went with the recommended Pheonix 10, 340 mAh 3 cell LiPo and an 8/4.3 prop and the motor lasted all of 10 minutes. No bite left to the magnets and all it does now is flutter between forward and reverse. Joe

I have personally seen LensRC motor in a Sig Lil Rascal and it flew like a pylon racer. Both of the G-Nats with 17T Westport-Design CD motors are cooking through the skies with many flights on each Use both 2 cell and 3 cell Lipo bats. Not a problem out of them yet and only paid $27 per motor.

RE: CD-ROM Brushless Motor.
Im not into rc planes but my dad was talking about a buddy of his uses CD Rom motors in an RC plane. So I was interested in how that works. I searched here first and found this topic. Then I searched google and found this link:

After finding that I figured that I could post it here to help answer someones question.

RE: CD-ROM Brushless Motor.
would anyone be interested in a 24 inch 3d plane that uses the cdrom motors? my prototype weighs about 5 ounces and hovers at half throttle with LensRc motor on 2 lipoly cells turning a gws 8x4 prop. does everything that the bigger depron planes do only smaller. could be built lighter as I am not using the lightest equipment out there. if any interested I will post some pics.

RE: CD-ROM Brushless Motor.
sorry it took me so long to get back with the pic, the first post was done in the middle of deer season here in missouri so I was in the woods for another week or so. this plane should be the first of several designs. I plan on doing some mini warbirds in a 3d style and some bipes too, any requests? not sure what to charge for a kit yet. I hope to have some plans done soon for those of you that want to scratch your own. feedback?
thanks guys.

Barellias:
If you havn't allready, download the instruction from Gobrushless.com. Tells how to do the winds. Mine is 18 turns of #26 wire. Swings an 8-4 prop on three 720 lipos.

You could, but you'd have to buy the wire, magnets, brgs. etc. They come in a kit from Gobrushless with everything you need for a very good price. I'm sure other sources have them too but their's worked for me.
