HL Yak 55...
Cheap..builds fast... great instructions (unlike the more popular, more expensive ones)
and flies better than any of the over engineered planes I have flown.....

RE: 3D Foamy of the Year
for indoors, I'm going with the shock flyer super star, at a little over 5.1/4 ozs. this plane is amazing.
for outdoors, Horizon's yak, at 12.1/4 ozs. its 3-d and percision capabilities are limitless.

RE: 3D Foamy of the Year
this horizon yak54f just wont die!!!! i wonder how long it takes for foam to naturally break down ....i also dont hover less then 4 feet above the ground so i think that helps..
park 370 4100kv with 6.6.1 gearbox still holding up after 100 flights...i have the mesh perfect and screws are tight never came loose, got lucky.... i used a hint of thread locker on outside

Yak 54 3D foamy from E-flite ,from Horizon hobby has my vote .Yes the Shock flyer was a revolution in e-flight , however , I've owned every foam plane imaginable to man and this plane performs 3D aerobatics the best . Partly because of it's design and partly because of it's rigidity

I am all for insanefoamies Yak 54 and solara. I have been flying the yak since it was on the market this year. I have built other planes and I always go back to the insanefoamies.com yak. when it is dead calm or indoor I like flying the solara, it is just alot of fun.

RE: 3D Foamy of the Year
Thanks for the vote. Wait till you see the new line of indoor 3mm foamies we are releasing around the begining of October. Mike Hill is busy R&Ding them for us between getting ready for the NATS with his Masters Pattern effort. They are built on similar platforms to the 6MM lineup and were inspired by the pictures you sent me of the mini Edge 540 you built from my original plans. They are easier to build and come with the new SMS Outrunner mount system. They were designed around the new Hacker A20-34S for power and come in right at 8oz. AUW with a TP 730 3s1p.
Mike is really excited about our next competition with this plane in his arsenal. We are looking for a suitable high profile event to enter as soon as the NATS are completed for Mike. He told me that the prototype has allowed him to learn some awesome new moves that the Shockys just won't do.

RE: 3D Foamy of the Year
Well, I am beta testing a smaller version of the 3D Foamy Tiburon Bipe and I gotta say... Woo-Hooo!!!!! This little bird has a 23.5" wingspan and a 24" Fuse. I am runnin a Park 370 outrunner 1340 kv motor with a Phoenix 10 and a 10x4.7 prop on a wobbly. The battery is an E-tech 700 3s Lipoly. I also fly with a 450 3s E-tech battery with awesome results.
This little bipe, which I will be posting pics of shortly, is a radical little plane and is VERY sturdy. I know because I don't always land right-side-up, heh-heh. I don't even have landing gear on it and have flown it and landed it around twenty or so times so far with no rash from coming in hard. Therefore, at this point in time I would like to cast my vote for the 3D Foamy mini Tiburon Bipe- Coming soon from 3D Foamy.com- as one of the coolest little foamies around!!! You're gonna want one.
