If you want a 2-cell they have the E-Tec 1250HD here for $29.99 http://bmkdesigns.net/index.php?cPath=28_29

They also have PolyQuest batteries which alot of people seem to like.

Let me know what you find. We have the TP 1320 Gen 2 or 3 with balancer lead and we are looking at another brand in the near future. Neither will be cheap but the quality and performance will be there when you need it. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. The TP 1320 Gen 2, 3s1p is the right weight, high C discharge rating and has been nearly bulletproof for us. This is a very important part of the power system. Pinching pennies here is a false economy.

Well right now I have etec's 1200 mah...paid like 60 each for them about 1 1/2 yrs ago...they are 8C+ burst max is what they say....how many amps is the hacker pulling on the Yak with, can't remember the prop,,the one Mike recommended..the one he flys.

oh, Bud, do you carry the TP batteries?

I havn't gotten the Yak done...had problem with 29% plane today and had to do some work on it when I got home...should have it done this week.

Sorry to hear of your 29%er having trouble.

The Hacker A20-22L with X20 ESC, APC 11x4.7 SF and a TP 1320 3s1p draws around 18.5 - 19 amps. I am not a TP dealer but I do carry the TP 1320 Gen 2 to support our planes and customers. I am sure they would be the same price at your LHS with no S&H charges there. They do have to ship via ground service too so time may factor in.
Unfortunately the 1200 etecs will be easy to toast in a short while at 8C discharge rating. You can probably hover and fly with them but they will lack the ultimate punch and will suffer dammage if you use full throttle (and you will want to) for very many short bursts on uplines and flipovers. I puffed a cell on the Kokam 1500 8C batteries in just three flights. They were never as strong as the TP 1320s either, probably due to the cell internal resistance specs. I am not sure if the etec 1200s are heavier or lighter than the TP 1320 Gen 2s either and that can be a consideration. I still have some Kokam 1500 8C 3s1p batteries that I can't use on the outrunner motors. Just got caught when the technology advanced. 1.5 years is a long time in Lipo technology. Price seems to be coming down since then too.
We are always on the lookout for new and emerging product technology in Motors, ESCs, Batteries, Props and all of the electronic equipment we use. If you find something that you feel works well with no penalties drop me a line. I will evaluate it and if it is a good choice, offer that to our customers.

Thanks, that's the info I needed..well big bird back ready to go, just broke the carbon fiber landing gear, fixed last night..

If I get a TP at LHS will it say Gen2 on it or the package, so I know I get the correct ones or will it just have the high C ratings?

[link=http://stores.channeladvisor.com/rc-toys-hobbies/Thunder%20Power/]Draganfly[/link] has the best prices I've seen so far for the Gen2 and new Pro-Light packs. And [link=http://www.b-p-p.com/products.php?cat=15]Bishop Power Products[/link] will beat any price by 5%.

Iceman30,

The Thunder Power batteries that are Gen 2 as far as I know are the silver cells covered in clear shrink wrap. The previous ones were black shrink wrap I believe. Someone else here will know for sure. I have never seen a Gen 2 on the labeling.
They do a great job on their specs label and the Gen 2s are listed as 10/12C cont 15 C burst or 12 C cont 20 C burst and the amp ratings for those C rating per the battery mAh rating (I know it gets confusing because the C rating changed with no Gen 3) . There is also the Gen 2.5 or 3 that have the highest C ratings and the external balancer lead as well as the power leads. I don't know if these are Gen 2 or ???

The new cell are called the Pro Lite packs. The have the balancer wires on them. Also they are lighter and a little thinner. Plus they have a higher amp rating and C rating. Pro Lites 13C cont. 20C Burst 17A cont. 27A burst Gen 2 12C cont 16C Burst 15Acont 22A burst. THP 1320mAh 11.1 volts

The difference between the two is night and day.
