Hacker a20 shaft..how to move??
I imagine this has been asked 100 times..but I need to move the shaft through the motor to mount on the opposite side..I have removed the hex nut, and the C lock that goes around the shaft, but still won't move even with a lot of force.
Thanks,
Brian

heh, I don't know why hacker even bothers with the set screw, it is in there REALLY tight...
find yourself a good vice, with little/no slop at all
remove the "bell" (purple part) from the armature of the motor
then take a peice of wood, as thick or thicker than the length of motor shaft you want sticking out, and drill a hole the size of the part the set screw comes out of
place wood over the front of the motor bell, put a thin towell or something on the other side of the bell to avoid scratching, and slowly crank the vise down, CAREFULLY watching for any misalignment, make sure it goes through straight
good luck

RE: Hacker a20 shaft..how to move??
i use a hammer when any of my main shafts snap
undo the grub screw
place on top of vice with main shaft pointing up, but with an area below for it to poke through the open vice
apply a bit of direct heat with a pen torch
get a hammer and a bit of large diameter dowl
hit it
ive got rubber cheeks on my vice, so i dont damage the motor, and the shaft will eventually come out, its a really really tight fit, but its do-able
