Im tempted to buy the BP21
At 21 ozs of thrust with an 8 by 4 prop and real good price
Thats the only thing Im worried about,,,,,, does it really matter if you have a prop that small on a 3D model
For the sake of blowing over control suface , I wouldnt have thought it would matter all that much as long as you have the thrust and I guess you can go to a 9 by 4 as long as you restrict your full throttle use
Have a great flying Christmas all

RE: Im tempted to buy the BP21
Be aware that the BP21 pulls 13 amps with the 8 x 4 prop. you will need a battery that can handle that kind of current.
Balsa products also has new versions of the BP motors that swing larger props now. they are the Y series motors. They are gret motors if your on a budget. I have a few myself.

RE: Im tempted to buy the BP21
I use these exclusively on the planes I manufacture. I recommend running them with a 9x4 APC slowflyer prop and at least a 1250mah lipo. This is on a 14oz plane, and the vertical is UNREAL. It will rocket straight up out of sight. You will need a high discharge rate, as this motor will pull some amps at full throttle....like about 18 amps. It will heat up a normal lipo at full throttle, but Ive not had any problems even running on something as simple as a E-tec 3cell lipo.
On the 1250mah 3cell I get close to 15-20 min of flight time depending on how much I use the throttle. They are no-frills powerhouse brushless motors. I highly recommend them.
They arent pretty looking like a Rimfire or Axi, but if you dont mind sacrificing asthetics for power...these things kick butt.

RE: Im tempted to buy the BP21
You have to understand that these motors are about the size of a Axi 2204/54, but have the power of a Axi 2208.
People mistakenly think that size is a factor in amp pull. Its not necessarily. Its the winds in the motor and how the magnets are arranged, etc that determine amp pull.

RE: Im tempted to buy the BP21
BDavison, when you say the 9x4 APC works well on a 14 ounce plane are you refering to the normal BP21 or some newer form of it? I've got a 15oz Challenger that I'm in the process of strapping a BP21 on with a 2000ma 3 cell lipo and need to figure out what size prop to use on it. I know the 7x6 APC works best on the Stryker with the BP21 and 3 cell lipo but that plane weighs 21 ounces or so.
