Default Anyone compare copperhead vs. airfoilz

I have been looking at these two planes but am not sure which would be better for learning low level 3d and take a lot of abuse. I like foamy's with airfoils. I am currently flying a 3DFoamy SuperXtra with a Hacker A20-20L, Predator 2200, X20 esc, and 4 hitec HS55's on an electron 6. My current plane has some tail twist and is not as stiff as I thought it would be. I like the plane but I am looking at something that will allow me to transition to glow or gas 3d planes.

The above post may be a little biased, but you have got to appreciate the enthusiasm. I would also include in your search darrol cady's line of foamy's particularly the foamtana. It also uses the 20-20L and for shear joy of flying it has no twist, high precision, no coupling.

and by the way, the stiffy is the plane that flys the most similar to a glow-gas plane right now that exists for this size!

I brought this discussion up?

Good advice to anyone who knows how to fly, GET THE AIRFOILZ.COM YAK OR EDGE. IT'S ACES OVER THE COPPERTOP for control and weight.

Biased? All he did was post some links.

How many Airfoilz planes have you flown to make this evaluation as the poster was looking for a comparison.

I've done a review of the Copperhead and working on 2 reviews of the Airfoilz planes, the Yak and Edge. If you are a beginner maybe the Copperhead may be a better fit for you, it's stronger, but at a price, weight. If you want something lighter then get the Airfoilz. If you already know how to fly, then it's what you want. If you want to make the Airfoilz fly heavier, just add weight.
So this is the new direction?????? Beginner????? Geeze Dion. Show just one video of the Airfoilz performing the manouvres the Stiffy does.....PRODUCE A VID!!!! Stop yapping and put your money where your mouth is. This is old...really old. You show me on post on this thread where someone came out and said the "Stiffy is a better plane" or the Airfoilz wing is disproportinate to the fuse. No, we do not need to enter into competition with Airfoilz to sell our product. We don't have to make false accusations about our competitors to sell planes.

Here is a new one for you....IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER AND WANT TO FLY AS GOOD AS AEROFUNDAN.......YOU NEED A STIFFY BECAUSE NO OTHER PLANE CAN MAKE YOU LOOK THAT GOOD....THE STIFFY WILL MAKE YOU LOOK AS GOOD AS ONE OF THE BEST NEW UP AND COMING PILOTS IN THE WORLD. IF YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED PILOT, YOU NEED AN AIRFOILZ BECAUSE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THEIR VIDEOS, NEWBEES CANT FLY THEM RIGHT.

Please, feel free to promote your product (as it's unique and obviously a quality plane. It looks like it's a great flyer too) but once again, USE A LITTLE TACT IN THE WAY YOU PROMOTE IT!!!!

Goodnight

I am confused, how come Dion gave the Copperhead Stiffy all rave reviews [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=616]HERE[/link] and now is no longer reccomending the Stiffy? If you look at the review he gave the stiffy 5 out of 5 stars in each and every category. Is the review fake or something?

In another thread Dion has this to say about the Copperhead...

ORIGINAL: STLPilot

These are not flat foamies! I don't know when everyone is going to understand this, I've seen so many posts about the weight. This plane is designed to fly IMAC and Freestyle, not just slow 3D stuff. However it will do both just fine.

I mean even Jason Shulman is selling them on his site and endorses the crap out of it.

The plane flies great both indoors and out and in 15-20 MPH winds.

Don't worry about the weight on this one, just go by how it flies and believe me it flies great.
and now Dion is saying that the weight is an issue with the Copperhead?!?!?

I have seen complaints with Copperheads plane having tracking issues.
Yet Dion says this [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=3619410]HERE[/link]

ORIGINAL: STLPilot

I was trying to save my flight comments for the full review, but in a nutshell it's one sweet flying plane. No bad tendencies, tracks perfect upright and inverted. Does all the tricks in the book, by the book.

Am happy.

A friend that owns an Airfoilz and has flown a Stiffy too, says the stiffy flys much better.... i won't say names! to not get anyone in trouble! but he said the airfoilz is really fragile! and he even had to ADD CF to the tail, because it wasn't strong enough.... hmmmmmmmmmmm [X(]

Wow, I did not mean to stir up the pot here... I was just looking for a few opinions on which plane flies more like glow. The A20 is sure enough power for both of these planes. I have read through and watched a lot of the vids, especially those of the Dominguez brothers, really awsome flying. I just want a sturdy plane that can take some abuse that will take me from electric to glow 3d flight. I guess I will have to check more on the construction of these two planes. How thick is the fuse on each of these. Thanks everyone for the replies, I was surprised to see this many in just a couple of days.

A word to the wise, anytime you get a opinion from STLPilot it means he is somehow getting $ and therefore hes biased. He does "independent reviews" for his own products also.
