I have several 26-28 ounce 3-d planes with outrunners on them all. I like these motors but I really want to go with a gearbox combo in order to swing a 12 inch prop for 3-d flight. I have one set up like this and it performs better than the outrunners swinging a 11-4.7. I hear alot about the himax/cobri combo's but know nothing about them. What combo would be the very best for these size planes for hovering with awsome pull out power? Please help a confused piolet. Which combo is killer here??

If you got the box with the 3 ratio's,use the 6.6.1 setup and a 12x6 APCe prop- you willhave more than enough power,this is the setup I use on my overweight 3dx-mini funtana and most of the ones that I built from plans from www.3dfoamy.com.-try also FP Evo20c 1500-1800 lipo's- that lot will keep up with the glow boys!!!!

I need to know what model himax and what model cobri gearbox to use together for wicked power.

hymax 2025-4200 kv and 6.6:1 should work ok, probably with a 12x4.7 to keep amps to a safe level.

I swing a 12X6 on my AXI 2808/24 and a 13X6.5 on my Hacker A30-16M. But if you still want a geared setup you might check out the Hyperion series, I have heard some good things about them.

I would rather have an outrunner, I have many of them, but they never swing a 12 inch prop without the numbers shooting through the roof. If I got one big enough to it would weigh too much.

I bought my gear set up from eflightline. I got the Himax 2025 5300kv with the cobra gearbox, very well built.
