I got about 6 flights in on mine yesterday, all ouside in dead calm conditions. I swiched to a 9X3.8 APC too. I noticed that now I need almost full right Aileron to keep it from torquing while in a hoover, where as I didn't with the 9X4.7 APC. I may change back.

I want to add a little more up and right thrust by placing some thin balsa under the motor. I'll post the results

That's interesting with the prop. I've always preferred lower pitch props just because that lets you fly slower especially indoors. I've been using the 9x3.8 and that's what my issue was, hard time keeping it from torqueing. I'll have to pick up a 9x4.7 to see how that goes.

RYGUY - How much throw do you have on your Ailerons? Could you take a pic of your Servo and Control Arm? I would be interested in seeing yours.

Thanks

I'm using an E-flite S75 with the 3D arm it comes with, with the pushrod going into the second from the bottom hole on the control arm. Gets me great roll rates on the wing, 3 or so per second, 2 while slower, but still doesn't like to hover without torquing.

Yea! Santa left one of these under the tree for me. I am going to use a ef Park 300 and phx 10 in it. What prop and batteries should I use with it. I will be flying outside with it on calm days. I have a 3S 340 and 3S 480, will they be ok with this?

Those batteries will be fine. I prefer 2S setups personally, it still has plenty of power but saves some weight. Run a 8x4 or so on a 3S setup. Keep us updated about the build!

Build is going good, almost ready to put the electronics in. Is everyone sealing them in like the instructions or is anyone making a hatch of some type?

I sealed mine jus to have the receiver go bad. However, sealing it is the best way. All the crashe damage mine sustained started from where I cut the hole to get to the receiver.

I killed mine today too. It had been getting so heavy from repairs, I just gave the sticks to my brother. He's never flown before in real life, just on the sim. However, he made it through the first pack without killing it. Second pack it died though. So tomorrow I'm gonna build the other one I've got sitting here. I'm planning on shortening some wires and doing some other stuff to try to save even a little more weight. Goal is 5.5oz.

I am about to buy a DX7 radio so I wanted to be able to change out the reciever out down the road. Maybe I will just keep the Xcalibur on the old radio. How is the outdoor flying with this plane, can it handle any wind at all?

This plane can't handle much wind, but suprisingly handles wind better than my Byp Yak, which weighs twice as much.

My experience is that it can handle very little, like under 2 or 3 MPH. Great plane for winds less than that or inside.

I've flown mine in clear up to 10 mph, but then its just no fun. You spend the whole time fighting the wind instead of trying to bring a rolling loop just a hair lower...
