RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
Kind of noticed the same things on mine, so added the SFG's and T-wing. Helps quite a bit. Elevators and hovering are much improved. Plan to try out some smaller "wing fence" type SFG's in addition to the inboard ones. I think the leading edge taper is allowing the air to "fall off" of the wing tip. This makes the plane want to fall off to either side during high alpha manuevers. The T-wing in conjunction with the inboad SFG's seem to channel the airflow from the prop straighter over the tail feathers too. Also might try some fences on the elevator like some of the F3P indoor planes. As to the reason why you can do inverted harriers better than upright is because the rudder isn't getting blanked out like it does in the upright position. I'm sure you've probably tried different CG setups too, if you didn't that may be another area to experiment with. Sometimes moving the CG slighty either way will greatly affect performance. I don't see much of a CG issue with mine, it's very forgiving. My 2 cents.

Hi
I need some help with the Tribute 3d FX. It will not harrier or hover worth a damn. Inverted it will. It keeps wanting to roll off in either direction. Harrier's wing roll right or left and hovering it wants to lay over on its back. On parachutes oe elevators, same thing.. it wing rolls right or left. Throws are set at manufactures recommendations. Expo is at 35% for all. I tried 60% on ailerons and played catch up way to much. Plane is set for straight and level at 1/2 throttle. For what ever reason it floats better upside down.
Motor is Park 450 with 20 ampESC and E-tec 1250 11.1v. Any help would be appreciated.

RamboSmurf, I programed in spoilerons and that helped harriers quite a bit on mine. I have it programed so when I pull up elevator the ailerons both go up porportionally with the elevator.

Hey
Thanks to all. First I tried CG. Moved it way aft. Slighly better, but battery is full back. Then I tried the radio mix. What a differnce. Harriers, Parachute, elevator and hover -- much better. I was doing great and then Mr. Wizard thought -- Hey, Lets do that on landing.
Oops -- to much -- 45 in. Strong plane. Broke the prop (lucky). Now its a wind storm in NY and I don't think I'm ready for 25 MPH winds.
So, Thanks to all. Now I just gotta get it to Knife edge. (Probably more me than the plane) and a Waterfall (definitaly me)
This plane sure can do walls, blenders, and flat spins nice. Little fast compared to a smaller foamy or Balsa Katana, but such a blast after getting all annoyed at trying to get my Heli to fly right.

Here's some shots of the latest enhancements to the already awesome TFX. Really seem to help me in the hovering, harriers, and downlines. Also much less rudder input during rolling manuevers. Stay tuned for more video soon...

I'm getting 15 minutes the way I fly with a 3S 11.1v 1800 Mah Li-po.

What kind of run times are you guys getting with the park 450 and TP1320-3S setup?

Breezasib, I am runnig that setup but have not really timed my flight times yet. I'd say though I'm getting at least 10 to 15 minutes on the Park 450 with 1320 thunder powers.

RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to getting one of these but unfortunately the current ETA here in the UK is end of June
Anyone tried it with a TP2100PL pack? Would be a bit heavy for 3D but would it perform simple acrobatics OK?

2100's seem to do well in a lot of wind, but you're not going to get much 3D out of it, too heavy for this airframe really. The 1320 seems to be about the ideal size for this airframe. Gives you some endurance and enough discharge to perform 3D/pattern well.
Gives moderate penetration on windy days. Someone else posted their TFX wouldn't fly very well and then it came to light he was using 2100's. Switched to the 1300 sized pack and lo and behold! It flew much better. I believe someone from the E-flite development team chimed in on the thread with basically the same advise. Keep it light to moderate weight and you'll be rewarded with some awesome flights![8D]

I use both batteries:
TP 2100 does work well on this aircraft. Not as good for 3D, but great for pattern flying plus longer flight times. Also better on windier days.
TP 1350 does better for full aerobatics but shorter flight times, not as good on windy days. Also can easily change the CG based on position of battery.

3DL, that was a nice vid
I'm SOLD... I'm getting one of these . I have a parking lot I love to fly in at night, and it is lighted, so lots of fun I can do with this Hlane as it is really able to be a very controlable stall-flier.

I have a moronic question.............
There are 2 servos for the wings.... Onlly ONE input on the reciever for AEL on the DX6 Spektrum Ar6000 reciever.
The instruction manual says nothing about how to plug them in.... Am I missing something ?
A "Y" harnes perhaps I don't know.
IT has gone together really well so far
I had to custom paint some stuff... it was too "Patriotic" looking....

The servo on the right wing connects to the aileron input on the receiver. The one on the left wing, connects to the "Auxiliary" input on the receiver.
You will then have to program the Spektrum DX6 to allow the use of two servos. This will also allow you to use the top right switch on the transmitter to switch on "flaperons" or "spoilers", according to how you program the Spektrum.
I have mine programmed as "flaperons" so that both ailerons go down for further slowing down the plane -- not really needed since the Tribute can land very slowly.
It's all covered in the Spektrum manual showing you on a step-by-step basis how to go about programming the unit with separate servos for the ailerons.
Hope this helps you out.

Thanks Jmir. I kinda figured it was something like that, but it perpelexed me as it just wouldn't make sense as each channel is an input to me in my mind. All this "mixing" is brand new technology... I'm an old "dead sticker".... I
ll see if there is a local flier who can help me set up the trims and expos on all this thanks.

RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
I know what you mean. I'm also fairly new to the hobby and the Spektrum 6 was my first programmable transmitter. So, I just went in small steps through the manual, starting on page one. Finally figured out how to set the expo's on the ailerons and elevator as well as the high and low rates. Setting up the ailerons using the auxiliary channel took me a little while because everything came out in reverse (almost felt like standing in front of a mirror to see if I could get it back to normal!). Again, I finally figured out that part.
Still have not learned how to mix the signals (aileron/rudder/elevator) for better pattern flying, but that will come later. Right now I have my hands full trying to learn how to hover for more than 10 seconds!
The E-flite Tribute FX has turned out to be a great trainer for me.
Good luck!

RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
hello mate,i have the 450 in mine, have tried several props. The best by far is APC SLOW FLY 11x4.7 .I use Thunder Power 1320 batterys and with no exaggeration i get over 15 mins of practising 3D flying after 15 mins can still pull out of prop hang, most people exaggerate too much about flight times etc. What im telling you is fact not bull****.Also this prop is best for practising prop hanging as it doesnt try to torque roll as much as other props i have tried.Hope this helps.
