Lol. I tried a 4000mah 4s Lipo last night That thing is a brick!

Flew nice and smooth with the extra weight, and had unlimited vertical. scared to weight it though.

Did you stick with the 14x7 and 4s or did you drop back to the 13x6?

I've heard the 4 cell is supposed to be unreal for vertical! Is very responsive on the throttle. A mate threw a 4 cell into his Aj extra and it was an absolute rocket. He ended preferring the 3 cell!

So you reckon you'll stick with it?! Maybe something with less weight and mah's??

No problem. Glad to see we are pretty much at the same weight. I am surprised SebArt isn't getting more press. Their planes are well designed. I did't get a chance to fly it this past weekend. I am shooting for this Saturday.

I'm using the same 14x7 Xoar prop with no problems, although a lighter 4s would make it awesome! I really does bring it to life though.

The 4000mah is out of my Sportjet 70 Ducted Fan model. I just put it in for a laugh, but was very suprised by the Sukhoi's ability to handle the weight on the big 4s (1/2 Kilo!!!). It flew great in blustery conditions. I guess the extra weight gave it more stability.... Although I didn't try anything high-G. Don't want to rip the wings off do we

1/2 kilo just for a lipo!!! Wow..!! Yeah that is heavy! Did you measure current draw on the 4s? I've always thought you could safely run the 14x7 on the 4s but alot of people i speak to say to drop down to the 13x6???!!!

I've even considered going to a 15x7 prop on 3 cell?! Sebart recomend it in their manual even!

Just starting on my Sukhoi.

Does anyone have any ACTUAL current measurements using a Hacker A30-10XL on a 14 x 7 with a 3S1P 2100-2500 battery pack?
I am thinking of using some of the Brand New Thunder Power ProLite V2 packs which are 2600mah at 20C for a constant
amp rating of 52amps... and a 30C burst rating of 78amps.

I know I can get by with good throttle management with these packs, but I would be very interested in knowing the results
of ACTUAL measurements with this motor/batt/prop combo. (or similar batt equivalent such as the Flightpower 2500 or TP
Extreme V2 2200mah etc)

Thanks in Advance for your response(s)....

Harley

Hey Harry, I get a reading of 43 amps and 450 watts. Flight power 3s 2500 25c batt, Xoar 14x7, Hacker a30-10xl, CC 60 amp SC. My weight less bat is 44.5 oz. I get a safe 8 minutes on GP 2100 3s batts and 10 min + on the 2500s. This is one nice flying plane. I did have a serious mishap with my first one. The hs65 on elevator died and it crashed, so now I have split elevator halves and a servo to each side and pull pull rudder in the new plane. I have flown it with a Hacker a30-10L and CC 45 amp controler and it really floats at 42oz less batt. With care that would be plenty of motor for it. With the XL motor there's no worry about cooking a component though. And now and then I throw on a Xoar 15x7, Then hovers become almost hands off and just about the easiest thing to do. It will heat the batteries up a bit more so usually it's the 14x7 prop.
If you happen to rip the gear out I've come up with a way to mount it with rubber pads that allow some flex. Graph Tech gear for the GP giand UDO is the same demensions and once cut down to fit replace the fancy kit gear. I'll post a pic should you need it. Gopher holes and cow pies are my nemesis.

Altavillan,

Thank you.. that was the type of info I was looking for.
Do you happen to know what the measured current draw is for the Xoar 15 x 7?

Thank you for the additional information.
I will take note as I get the plane ready for its maiden flight...

Regards,
Harley

Sorry to say that I've killed mine Was doing a rolling harrier at about 12" and snagged a wing. It rolled over, nose, wing tail and somehow managed to break every bone in it's body. Probably because I had the heavy 4S pack in.

I bloody loved this plane, and it always made my flying look good. Plus IT looked good. I will get another, but I'm going through my Bi-Plane stage so I got this to fit all the gear into:

E-Flite Pitts.

Ahhh for real! Bugger aye! I actually downed mine just recently also except i walked away with just a small scar or crack on the nose of the canopy and a broken motor shaft which was an easy replacement.

I was doing a snap roll only 12" above the ground and snapped too far going inverted and landing inverted on the canopy in a slightly heavy inverted harrier sort of deal!

Its a tough plane, i thought it was all over when it hit but nope!

You must have hit pretty hard mate! Sorry to hear it!

You got pics of the crash? and for that matter the new bird??

Bad to hear the loss of a plane. They are tough planes though a cartwheel down the runway will usually do it. The first one I lost Tboned a fence post. It smashed up the cowl, crushed the motor mount and cracked some formers. I didn't want to wait for a new cowl so I ordered a new plane. I'm flying with the wings from #1. The fuse from#1 was repaired in about 2 hours. So now except for the cowl I have two of them I keep searching for a plastic bottle to make a cowl from.
I just like the way the big round planes don't need to go 90 miles an hour to hold a knife edge. And that makes rolling harriers just that much easier to do.

Yeah, of all the planes I've had over the years. I think the little Sukhoi was one of my favorites. I will get another!

Recently aquired a 'slightly' bigger project

Lol. It's a bit of a monster! 80 inch span (1/3 scale) with a 3W 60cc petrol engine, Tindal Evo smoke system & eight high torque metal geared digi servos!

It's a scratch build Ultimate based on the Goldberg 90 size plans.
