Motor question for Reactor Bipe
Hi, I've got a 450 size brushless motor from my Mini-Pulse and I'm wondering if this motor would be sufficient for a Reactor bipe? I believe it's rated at 950kv and I've got a 22 or 25 amp speed control. Unfortunately I recently crashed my Mini-Pulse that these electronics came out of and I'm looking for a plane to use my motor/speed control in that is a bit more 3D aerobatic capable. I'm really interested in flying a bipe and I like the looks/lines of this one. Thank you.

RE: Motor question for Reactor Bipe
First, what is the AUW of the Mini-Pulse and and the AUW of a Reactor bipe? If the bipe's weight is equal to or less than the Mini-Pulse, you are possibly past requirement #1.

RE: Motor question for Reactor Bipe
I believe Backyard Flyer testest the Reactor Bipe and their's was around 33.5oz AUW. I'm not sure what battery they used, I would guess probably Electrifly 11.1V 2100mah lipo. My brother has an Electrify battery and it's pretty light compared to my common sense battery. Not sure on the mini-pulse's AUW. They suggest a rimfire 35-36-1200 outrunner motor, but then mine is just a 450 890kv motor.

I have been looking at this plane as well and wondered if I could move a 480 910kv onto it, or do I have to go out and buy something new. I think your 450 may be a little small
Horizon specs on the Park 450 state "Ideal for 3D park flyers (15–25 oz) and scale park flyers 20–30 oz) using 2–3S 1200–2100mAh Li-Po batteries"
For the 480 910kv & 1020kv " Perfect match for 3D park flyers weighing 20–30 oz (565–850 g), Ideal for scale park flyers 25–35 oz (710–990 g)"
Looks like the Power 10 is more suitable according to their website "Equivalent to a 10-size glow engine for 32–48 ounce (910–1360 g) airplanes, Ideal for 3D airplanes weighing 28–36 ounces (790–1020 g)"

RE: Motor question for Reactor Bipe
Thanks for the help I appreciate it! I really like this plane but I've already got some electronics from my mini-pulse and I'd like to try and use them. I don't know what to do because the Reactor bipe is really awesome looking and I like the fact that it's capable of 3d aerobatics. Looks like I've got some thinking to do... Thanks again.

RE: Motor question for Reactor Bipe
Would your electronics work in the GP Ultimate Bipe? Its a bit smaller and lighter, and its almost as nice lookin as the reactor.

RE: Motor question for Reactor Bipe
I have both planes and I can tell you this............... If you REALLY want the bipe, the pnp 450 would fly it, but it would be in a very "scale like" fashion. At best, you would be able to loop from level flight. No vertical, NO 3D.
If you have to have the bipe (I love mine)............. you can use the gear from your pulse, but I'd put money aside to upgrade the motor, esc and tail servo's as your next purchases, you'll be glad you did......
I have the stock motor in my bipe, and it is a powerhouse in her.
good luck

Bear this in mind though. If you do buy it and crash it, I prefer not to see you morph it with a Mini Ultra Stick....... I don't think I could handle it!!! Lol!!!!
Later!
