There's no doubt the SHP handles the wind well, I just don't think it is violent enough for really crazy 3D. When I first got it I thought it was great, but now I've flown wilder planes it always seems a bit too 'tame' now. Don't get me wrong I still love it and it is my go to plane for days when there's a bit of breeze I just think there's better 3D'ers out there. Sigh! If only I could get a balsa plane that flew like a foamie.
MC,
I'd love to see what you think after flying with a smaller battery. Do you have anything? You were right about the CoG so I'd be keen to see what you thought.

Actually, I just retired my old Addiction[&o] Its in such a sorry state, no point trying to revive it. I do plan however getting one by the end of the year and trying a 230-250 watts power sytem and 100 gram battery, it may be light enough to fly indoors.

My 3S are 18 - 25C, I don´t want to go the 4S route because I don´t want to buy more batteries and the reason for this projects is to reuse some of the staff that I already have.
I just completed my order with Rob and got a Velox and because I also have a spare motor laying around I got the electric trainner that 3DHS have, I sow the video and it flys quite nice, I will use it more for sport flying and maybe put on floats.

I am glad we could get you all setup Thanks, and enjoy the planes.
3s Power - FWIW, I have 3 Velox's that I have been flying solely on 3s. One on a Hacker A30-12L w/ APC 13x6.5E, and two on the Torque 2814T-820 w/ APC 14x7E and Xoar 14x7 PJN, and for me they have plenty of punch and are a blast to fly. I like keeping the weight down, but really like nice power on vertical and punch-out. Both setups provide plenty of both, in my opinion, but I will say that the Hacker A30-12L, with the 1000kv simply hauls the Velox around on 3s. On a burst, I am getting 45+/- amps and 510+/- watts [X(] pretty nice on a 44oz. plane, around 175+/- watts per pound.

I was under the impression that to get the 2814T-820 motor I had to go with 4S that’s why I did not order. Anyway is nice to see you in the forum it’s a great place to share experiences. I will let you know when I get the boxes. It should take +/- 10 days from the date of shipment.
Thanks once more for taking the time to put my order together and I hope we can do more business in the future

You will be just fine on the 2818T-900. Use the motor standoffs included with the kit to push the motor weight slightly forward, and expect to have your battery fairly far forward to get the CG correct. With the purchase of the EBT power combo, I thought the 2818T-900 was for the EBT

I just noticed what motor your planning to use on the Velox...
The 2818 and a 3s pack is going to be too light and you'll have to add lead to the nose...
At first, I built my Velox with a 2818 & 4s packs... it still needed 1.5oz of lead on the nose to keep the pack back far enough that I could get a seatbelt on it.
You may be ok with the 3s pack shoved ALL the way forward, but I wouldnt bet on it.
On 3s you probably dont need the seatbelt though... so that makes putting the pack far-forward a bit more practical.
Plan on putting your Airboss on the bottom of the motor box as far forward as possible.
The 2814 is the way to go on the Velox.. its 1.5oz (40g or so) heavier and helps balance it.

Heli motor? Wont that be a very high kv motor? (in the 3-4000kv range?)
You'll want to stay in the 800 to 1000kv range no matter what motor you use on either plane.
Do you have 2 motors in that Kv range?

Yes I have 2 and the motor is 3900 Kv and weighs 58g 3800 RPM/V for Heli, but I don’t understand why can’t I use it for airplanes and why should it be 800 to 1000Kv ?

The 2818T-900 will work......has worked for many.......if you use the standoffs, or even get slightly longer ones, it pushes the weight further forward, thus helping achieve an acceptable CG. The battery also needs to be waayyyyy forward, but it does work. Yes, you may still need to add a little noseweight, but pushing the motor further forward than a standard flush-mount, will cut down how much you may need to add.
Yes, 5 oz +/-, similar to the wieght of the 2814T-820 is preferred, and makes things easier.
I wouldn't recommend NOT using the battery seatbelt on any setup in the Velox, it tumbles so violently, it is a must have....my 2cents.
The higher the kv, the smaller the blade/prop, unless you run a gear box and slow it down. 3800+/- kv coud never run direct drive on a plane like this. You would need to run a gearbox to slow it down to the equivalent of around 800-1000kv so you could utilize an acceptable prop. size.

The PA Addiction is a great little 3Der, but it is built so light one slight mistake and you got a bag of sticks. Can be worked on and rebuilt but you will be doing it often. This plane is just brittle. That is why it is so light though. Touch a wing on landing or nose it over on landing and even though it just barely noses over or barely touches a wing something is going to break. Actually you can break them fairly easy just picking them up, or squeasing them a tad bit, while putting the canopy on. But is an awsume little flyer just not for long lol.

What's everyone think of this airplane?
It also uses a 2200mah 3-cell battery.
Looks like a finely constructed and well thought out model.

Nothing wrong with that....I have the 260....great plane. I fly it with 1750 and 1800mah 3s when its calm ....its very light and floaty with those batteries. Ild still say go with the 3DHS SHP.

RE: Best 3D airplane for 2200 mha 3S
Finally I took delivery of my two planes from ADC Hobbystore, It is quiet impressive that you can buy something on-line from one side of the world and it can actually arrive on the other side in one piece, no scratch or minor damaged to the planes.
I would also like to say that I am very very impressed with Rob from ADC, world class service, e-mails are reply promptly, takes the time to work your setup with you and meet your needs, I have been flying model airplanes for 8 years and I am really impressed with the packing of the planes and the craftsmanship of the models.
Unfortunately I will be going on Holidays with wife and kid on Monday and won't have time to put the plane together now, so that will have to wait until a return by end of November, but I am definitely buy more staff from you in the future.

Why noon has mentioned the E-Flite Extra 260 480? Maybe it's because E-Flite has raised the price on it to $160? Maybe for $160 it doesn't fly nearly as well as anything from 3DHS. And for $160 it's a friggin eggshell that you'll knock the landing gear off of? I personally wouldn't touch an E-Flite Extra 260. And until E-Flite lowers their prices I'm not interested in anything they make.
