Well David, with Hobbycity's Zippy or Rhino 3S 2200mah lipos at $19 each, or a 4S 3700mah at $58, perhaps Santa could look favorably in your direction and get you some extra flight time !!

A good balancing charger is a must for Lipos (as you guys already know). I spent a little extra and got the hyperion EOS0606i AC/DC charger. the main reason was it can balance charge up to 6S and it has both the ac/dc power source built in (no need to buy a separate ac cord/ adaptor). There are other great chargers also.

Looks like a nice charger.. might need to get me one of those.. I have been using the E-Flight charger that came with my Blade 400. It seems to work good but no display. Would be nice to see numbers and readings when you plug a battery in.

Yup, i did the same thing. The hyperion also chargers LiFe, NiCD, NiMH, lead acid, just about everything you need. I just added Common Sense's octo multi charge leads and there ya go.

Cool. There is a huge thread on rcgroups but I guess we are it here on RCU.. I am waiting for the ESC to arrive and just finish installing servos and mine will be ready to go. I had their 68" Yak with a YS 110 a few years ago before I got out of the hobby and it was an awesome plane. Can't wait to fly this one..

I've had my Yak for a year now and love it. It's a screamer on 4S and AXI 2820/10 motor w/ APC 12x6 E prop. Getting a little over 800 watts out of it. I'd definitely ditch the stock wheels and axles that come with it. I used screws off of one of my helicopter kits as longer axles and installed 2" rubber low bounces wheels. It takes the impact so the landing gear doesn't have to. Haven't noticed any change in CG and the wheel spats still fit. It also works much better on dirt fields. I'm also trimming down a set of stronger landing gear from the .40 sized Hyperion Extra. It's the perfect height, but a little wide for the undercarriage. A little trimming with the dremel and it'll be perfect.

Hi 804 - Do you have a link to the specific LG you are talking about? I took a look at their site and there are several that might just be suitable.
Thanks!...Chris

Try this. http://www.3DHobbyShop.com/detail.aspx?ID=2042
If it doesn't work, the part # is 3DH-LG-03. They are the curved ones,(similar to a full-scale Yak 54). I had to file a little bit off the mounting area, and re-drill one hole in each side (they are 2 piece gear), but took all of about 5 minutes to do.
They are a bit flexy, but very strong, and have plenty of clearance for my 14-7 prop.

I haven't started building mine yet but...what do you guys think of the stock landing gear? Is it, and its mounting points, strong enough for bumpy landings on a grass field, or is there a beefing-up mod that is suggested for this airplane?
Thanks...Chris

The landing gear on mine seems fine and it should be good for grass. However, really hard landings are going to bend or break something. I suppose for me i use my heli philosophy... if its super strong, more stuff breaks. I had a decently hard landing this morning and it seems to hold up fine.

My landing gear wasn't bad, considering it the planed weighed 8oz more than it would electric. I bent one side a little bit on a bad landing that was on the sloping part of the field. Straightened right out. It's weak, but it's not unusable. Of course, pancaking it in, like the photos above show, won't help any.
